Roughly Half of our population is illiterate, our literacy rate is 58.9%!

Problems of Non Formal Education (Issues & Challenges)
While non formal education has its benefits, it also faces several challenges. The main problems with non formal education are:
1. Lack of Recognition
Completing non formal education such as an online class or a community program is not as highly regarded as a formal degree. This lack of recognition makes it difficult for people to prove their skills or knowledge to potential employers. As a result people don’t usually get the same opportunities and respect as those with formal education.
2. Quality of Instruction
Some programs are run by experienced professionals but others may be led by people with little to no training. Since there are no standardized guidelines or regulations the quality of instruction can be inconsistent. Therefore sometimes participants may not receive accurate information which can hurt their progress or job prospects.
3. Limited Access to Resources
In formal schools, students often have access to libraries, labs, sports grounds and other learning tools. Many non formal education programs have limited access to such resources. This could mean fewer textbooks and outdated materials or technology which could limit the quality of learning.
4. Low Funding
Non formal education programs operate on tight budgets because they rely on donations, volunteers or minimal fees from participants. Even the government funded ones get a low budget to operate. In some cases non formal education programs may even shut down due to a lack of financial support.
5. Short Term Focus
Many non formal education programs focus on short term learning such as one time workshops or brief courses. While these programs can provide valuable knowledge, they often do not offer the depth needed for long term success. Participants may learn a new skill or topic but not have enough time to fully master it.
