Good Handwriting Competition 2024

Celebrating the 22nd Edition Under the Banner AIE

The first 21 editions of the Good Handwriting Competition were conducted at the Ali Institute of Education (AIE) by the Babar Ali Foundation. However, the 22nd edition marked a significant shift, as it was independently organised and managed by AIE itself. Held successfully on October 24, 2024, this event symbolised a new chapter in AIE’s commitment to nurturing the timeless tradition championed by Syed Babar Ali, promoting the art and importance of good handwriting.

Participation and Scope

This year’s competition was open to both students and teachers from across Punjab, making it a highly inclusive and representative event. Participants had the option to compete in both Urdu and English handwriting categories, allowing for a broader expression of linguistic and writing skills.

Registration and Selection Process

The initial call for participation saw a tremendous response, with more than 1,500 registrations received from 82 schools. Following an extensive interschool handwriting screening, 827 participants were shortlisted to compete for the final round at AIE. As the competition was both for students and teachers, there were 168 teachers to compete among themselves. This rigorous selection ensured that only the most promising handwriting talents advanced to the final stage.

Recognition and Awards

To celebrate excellence and encourage continued effort, cash prizes and certificates were
awarded to the top performers. These rewards not only recognised individual skill but also
served to promote motivation among students and educators alike.

Preserving a Dying Art

In an age dominated by digital communication, the Good Handwriting Competition serves a
meaningful purpose. Its core aim is to highlight the importance of legible and aesthetically
pleasing handwriting, while raising awareness about the declining use of handwriting in our
computer-driven world. The event fosters appreciation for this timeless skill and encourages
younger generations to retain and refine their handwriting abilities.
