On-Going Projects: ABL & MGT Training & Facilitation

Objective

Partnering with UNESCO, AIE has taken an initiative of conducting ABL & MGT Training and Facilitation. The objective of the project is to undertake interventions related to improving the learning environment of 282 Government schools and 25 NFBE centers in Tehsil Jatoi and Tehsil Alipur, District Muzaffargarh in Punjab Province.

Key Stages

> Baseline study

> Organize three-day cluster-based ABL and MGT training workshops for 307 schools and provide Learning kits to each school

> Develop Activity Based Learning (ABL) and Multigrade Teaching (MGT) training manuals and guide books to train 280 teachers from Tehsil Jatoi and Tehsil Alipur of Muzaffargarh

> Establish a Reading corner in each of the target school and NFBE center

> Development and distribution of Learning Kits

> Undertake at least 3 visits to each target school and NFBE center to provide on-the-job facilitation to teachers through classroom observations, mentoring, peer tutoring and demonstrating the use of low-cost teaching-learning aids

 

 

 

Completed Projects: SED Promoting Science in Government Schools

Duration: April, 2019 to March, 2020

Overview: Ali Institute of Education (AIE) in collaboration with the School Education Department (SED) and Babar Ali Foundation (BAF) has implemented the ‘Promoting Science in Government Schools’ initiative in four districts of Punjab: Lahore, Kasur, Nankana Sahib and Sheikhupura. There has been a deterioration in the teaching of science in government schools due to an outdated curriculum, demotivated teachers, overprotection of science lab/equipment and no activity-based or experiential learning strategies. This pilot was designed keeping in mind the need of the hour as presented by the Secretary Education.

Objectives: 

> Created an environment in Government schools where teachers and students are talking about Science

> Trained head teachers, teachers and science teachers on new pedagogies and activity based learning

Key Stages:

> Training of Principals/Vice principals on Instructional Leadership/ Change Management and Educational Leadership

> Training of class teachers as Master Trainers on Activity Based Learning and Best Practices in teaching for 21st Century Learning

> Training of Elementary School Science teachers

> Monitoring, Evaluation and follow up of the training

> Intraschool Science Exhibitions

> Culminative Science Exhibition at the Ali Institute of Education
